If you’ve been around The Encouraging Home for a while, this might feel a little familiar to you.
Long before caregiving, long before this recent season of my own health journey, I was already the friend people came to for health and fitness resources. Recipes that actually worked for a busy family. Simple exercise tips. Health resources people need and encouragement to keep going when nothing seemed to be changing. It’s just always been part of who I am, the friend who wants to help other women feel steady, strong, and cared for in their own bodies.
Somewhere along the way, life got busier, my focus shifted to other things, and that part of my work quieted down for a season. That happens. Seasons change. Callings sometimes go underground for a while before they resurface.
But this past year and a half brought me right back to it, this time from the inside out. When my own health started to unravel under the weight of a hard season, I needed exactly the kind of help I used to offer other people. A friend stepped in for me the way I’d once stepped in for others. And through that experience, metabolic health coaching became something I didn’t just believe in, I lived it.
So here I am, circling back to something that was always part of my story, just with over a decade more life experience and a much more personal understanding of why it matters.
I don’t think it’s an accident that this is where I’ve landed again. Stewardship means taking care of what you’ve been given, and that includes the body God gave you, no matter how many other things are competing for your attention right now: growing children, aging parents, a business, a home. Your health has to be part of the stewardship equation too, or none of the rest of it is sustainable.
If you’ve been feeling like your own health slipped quietly to the bottom of your list the way mine did, I’d love to walk alongside you the way someone once walked alongside me. You can take a free health assessment here to get started, no pressure, just a first honest step.
Some callings just take a while to circle back around. I’m glad this one found its way home to me again.
Mary, The Encouraging Home
