Celebrating Advent: Christmas Book Basket

We have loved Celebrating Advent…a tradition that has been added to our home in the last few years. Each year is different, based on how well prepared I was prior to December 1st, as well as the amount of stress and obligations we are facing in December. If life is busy, anything you do toward impressing God’s Word on your children’s hearts and changing the focus in your home will be a blessing in your home.

One of the ways we celebrate is with a Christmas Book Basket. I love books and as a former teacher, I have lots!  I have a big collection for each holiday.  Our  Thanksgiving books are stored on our holiday shelf waiting for next year and Christmas books are out.  

Our favorite way to enjoy our books is when I wrap a book for each day and let the boys open one each morning.  They like to look under their little Christmas tree in their bedroom.  We usually start this on December 1st.  Well, you can see that I have been a little behind on that. And some years, the wrapping doesn’t happen. We just have them on our table or in a basket.

There is no right way to do this…so jump in with whatever Christmas books you have and enjoy this little tradition. Remember, this is a no guilt zone. If you have Christmas books around, start reading through them together as a family and ENJOY the season!! Don’t stress!!
