We hope to cut down our tree this weekend when our oldest comes home from college as well as take our Christmas card family photo. We will decorate the tree this coming week and mail out cards. We enjoy our immediate family on Christmas Eve with candlelight Communion at church. Our time of celebration will be with extended family by traveling to my home town on Christmas Day after sharing our gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh at home that morning.

I will be celebrating with lots of gatherings with family & friends. We will also be serving in our local community by participating in our local Council on Aging’s Senior Angel Tree program (adopting seniors, purchasing gifts for them, and even delivering many gifts to the seniors in our community), caroling to many throughout the community, volunteering at Operation Christmas Child, and helping with our local Board of Disabilities’ homes for adults (again adopting some of these wonderful people for Christmas).

My mom and stepfather are coming to our house this year for Christmas. We open a game gift on Christmas Eve and play till midnight mass. Christmas morning, I get up early and pop in the oven the monkey bread that I made the night before and make coffee. Then I plug in the Christmas tree and start waking people up. Nice having a teen who likes to sleep in…even as a child, she wasn’t an early riser!

  • Rachel R. says:

We’re participating in our church’s Christmas program, then going to Grandma’s house. 🙂

  • blessedinamillionways says:

between extended family, church, and our involvement in our church school (yes, I got on the list for hot lunch the last day before vacation!) celebrating Christmas is always busy enough without having to add the fact that we moved a few weeks ago, so boxes are the new Christmas decorations right now… let’s just say that all low-key things will be high on the list and thieves diffusing constantly! I’m hoping for some spare reading time… is that too much to ask at this stage of life?! 🙂

  • Amy says:

We celebrate with family. This year we are really trying to focus on the real meaning of Christmas rather than the material aspect.

  • DeniseL. says:

We are celebrating by being together with family. We are reading Ann Voskamp’s Advent book this season, praying and reaching out to others. It is special for us to be together as my husband has been working out of state for 4mths. now and we are trying to sell a home and relocate. We do a whole lot of baking and Christmas movie watching. And we always get together with extended family and have a lot of laughs together.

  • Natasha Page says:

Two of my kiddos have birthdays in December. So I out off the Christmas season until their birthdays are past. Then we get our tree and let the season begin! My mom also has a December birthday. So I spend a lot of time on Amazon looking for gifts. It’s not easy!

  • Dulci says:

We will be celebrating quietly at home. We are happy that Christmas is going to fall at the end of my husband’s first chemo cycle, so he will be feeling more like himself. Sadly he will be spending the next week in the hospital for his second cycle, so we are just enjoying the time we have together. We’ll have plenty of years to make up for not being able to spend new years together once he is cancer free. ^_^

We spend December celebrating with some family birthdays and also doing advent calendars. Decorating the house, backing cookies and doing festive Christmas activities are also part of the whole month celebration.

  • Lori Williams says:

I think the biggest thing we do to celebrate in December is to pray for family and friends that don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I pray fervently because my heart hurts so much for all my loved ones that I know are heading down the path to hell. Your prayers for my family and friends would be greatly appreciated. I have so many.

  • Marcy says:

We will celebrate Christmas Day with our kids here at home. We went to a Bethlehem Marketplace at a local church, the kids love that. We went to our town’s Christmas tree lighting as well, and will probably go look at lights one evening. Fun times!

  • Dawn Alexander says:

We also have annually downsized the amount of gifts and increased our time together in the Word. Teaching little ones the real meaning of the season is such a privilege and a great responsibility! We love this season; meaning both Christmastime and the one that we are in with our children in the home. 🙂

  • Cathy Walker says:

Merry Christmas! We are celebrating at my daughters’ home this year! We will have a meal, open gifts and play games!
