gardening with groables

Do you garden? What do you like to grow? We have used raised beds the last several years and we love them! The weeds seem to be less of an issue and it is easier to manage in our small space.   Even though we are farmers, there isn’t much land for gardening…it all goes for the cows and to grow feed for them. :)

Gardening takes planning but the results are wonderful and helps keep your family healthier and helps to save you money. It is so nice to go outside to pick fresh greens for salads, smoothies, tomatoes for sandwiches, vegetables for soups and more. It is comforting to know what is on your vegetables and where they come from.

And sometimes it is nice to have an easier way to grow vegetables and herbs. Things can be even easier this year with Gro-ables! We have enjoyed trying them. My boys really love them!

Miracle Gro Gro- ables make gardening easier!

Gro-ables is a brand new product from Miracle-Gro – a pre-packaged seed pod that makes it incredibly easy to grow your own herbs and veggies from seed. It’s designed for the younger consumer, or people who are new to gardening but have always wanted to try growing their own food. The seed pods are designed to simplify the growing process so it’s not overwhelming or confusing. Focus should be on edible gardening – easily growing your own herbs or veggies in your own home/apartment, and turning those homegrown ingredients into homemade meals.

I have seen them priced $1.25 – $1.49, depending on where you shop. There are 17 varieties to choose from.

Miracle-Gro Gro-ables takes the guess work out and also makes it great for kids to start gardening. Just plant, water and watch it grow! It is guaranteed to grow so even a person with a black thumb will have success. They contain the seed, plant food and growing material.

Miracle Gro Gro-ables have everything you need to get started

I was sent Tomato, Basil and Spinach to try. They have not been planted very long. My son (who LOVES to garden) was very excited about them and loves to garden and started cleaning out the boxes and even made me a small box to start these indoors since we will still have frost for a while. I love my little garden box that he made. Gro-ables inspired him to get even more creative.

So, I will have to come back and update pictures to show you what they look like once they have  grown and documented their progress. They are still in the small stages right  now but they are growing!

I planted my gro-ables tomatoes indoors about 5 weeks ago. They took around 12 days to sprout and since then it has been a very slow growth. They are only about 2 inches high with 4 leaves. My sister planted her tomato seeds (not the gro-ables) indoors in one of those jiffy brand mini green houses. Her plants are at least 5 times the size of mine and are ready to transplant to her garden bed. I just don’t get it. Maybe I’m not watering them enough? I’ve also planted sugar snap peas, basil, and cilantro in a jiffy mini greenhouse. They sprouted fast and are growing wonderfully. I’ve already transplanted them weeks ago. This is my first time using the gro-ables. I bought two and they are both growing at the same slow rate. I don’t think I will be buying them again. When did you plant yours? Yours seem to be doing alright.
