Celebrating Love at Christmas

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year…full of excitement, anticipation, joy and lots of stress. It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season that is added on to the busyness of life. Christmas can turn into a time that is not so full of joy.  We have to be intentional to celebrate love at Christmas. Celebrate love for our family and others, but most of all celebrate the gift of love sent from above.

One of our favorite ways to celebrate and remember that love is with Advent. We had never celebrated Advent until a few years ago. Now I can’t imagine Christmas without it.

We enjoy the Love Came Down Collection from DaySpring.  One of our favorite items from the series is the Jesus, God’s Promises Fulfilled – Advent Tabletop Devotional. This beautiful devotional has a promise from God, a Scripture, and conversation starter questions for each day, starting December 1st. The call to action questions are great to get your family focused on keeping Jesus as the reason for the season. This tabletop devotional is one that we always use and is great to take with the family if traveling, so the countdown to Christmas can continue.

Celebrating Love at Christmas

Lighting candles as we read our Advent Devotional and at other times during the season reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world and that we need to be a light in this darkness. We enjoy lots of lights and candles in the house this time of year. This beautiful Trio Tea Light Holders reminds of us this truth with these messages: brightest hope,  Jesus,  and purest love.

Every day is counted off with the beautiful Love Came Down Felt Advent Calendar and the Holiday Countdown Calendar that we use for Thanksgiving and Easter as well to make a picture for the holiday each day.

Celebrating Love at Christmas

Decorating our tree with lights and beautiful ornaments reminds us to reflect on the blessings of the past. I decorated each of the boys a Christmas container with their handprints on the lid. This is where they keep all their ornaments that we have given them through the years. They have quite a collection that they will take when they leave home. They get a new ornament every December 1st. {Sometimes more than one if I purchase some at an after Christmas sale the year before}

Celebrating Love at Christmas

The Wonders of His Love Ornament is an addition to their collection this year. What a beautiful reminder to be in awe at the wonder of His love for us.

We love celebrating each other this time of year. Thanksgiving helped us to focus more on our blessings. We continue that throughout the season. Our family enjoys celebrating…mostly with one another. Instead of keeping our nice china and other products, we use it. Which is more important~ saving our china …for what? for when?  for who? … or making the days special with our family. I want our days to be special and for them to know that we celebrate their lives.

We like enjoy a special or everyday meal at our table that is adorned on the beautiful reversible Names of Jesus Table Runner while using the Giving Platter. I was able to stock up on the platters last year…they make great dinner plates or to do what the name says….give to someone. Our holiday tables are adorned with many of the items from the Love Came Down Collection. It is just a little way to help us celebrate, make the family feel special and focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season celebrating love.
